This past weekend I had the opportunity to have an early christmas with my family. We all had a great time and the neighbors even had snow! Each year they rent a snow machine and create a Winter Wonderland for the their neighbor hood. It was chilly but a lot of fun!
Of course I was in charge of dessert, so I brought a Chocolate Cake with Raspberry filling and a Cream Cheese Buttercream frosting. The cake was decorated with fresh raspberries, cinnamon sticks, and fresh basil for effect. I dusted the entire cake with confectioner’s sugar for that fresh fallen snow effect.
I really wanted to make an Orange Chiffon cake because I was in the mood for something citrussy…is that a word? Anyways the hubby wanted chocolate so I agreed. Good call cause it was delicious ! The Cream Cheese Buttercream paired beautifully with the chocolate and the raspberry-nice choice!
Recipe courtesy of Mon Petit Four. The recipe calls for Mascarpone Cheese however, I could not find this so I used cream cheese in a pinch 🙂
